The Emerging Artists Series takes place every day of Summerfest. This series highlights up-and-coming local, national and international talent during daily performances that not only showcase great live music, but also engages the audience by having fans vote each day their favorite performance.

We’ve reached out to several of this year’s winners and asked them a few questions about themselves and what it’s like to perform at Summerfest.

This week we hear from the members of Charleston, South Carolina’s SondorBlue. The band is comprised of three exceptionally talented vocalists who could each easily front their own bands – Connor Hollifield on lead guitar, John Sheehan on guitar and keyboards and Andrew Halley at center stage on bass – with drummer, Drew Lewis holding down a clockwork backbeat. They come together to create harmonies unlike any you have ever heard.

Q1) What was your favorite part of playing Summerfest?

SondorBlue: Our favorite part had to have been performing on the Emerging Artist Stage, one of the bigger stages we've ever played on as a band.

Q2) Did you have any time to check out any of the bands at Summerfest while you were here?

SondorBlue: Yes! The most memorable show that comes to mind right now was The Flaming Lips concert. All the balloons, graphics, and lights made for an all inclusive show that had us in awe. Not only was it a great show musically (we like their tunes), we loved the crowd interaction and visual aspects that really took the experience of their show to the next level. The little things.

Q3) When you think of Milwaukee, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?

SondorBlue: THE WEATHER! We currently live in Charleston where it is hot and humid most of the year. It's a beautiful place, but when we hopped out of the van in Milwaukee, we couldn't stop talking about how perfect the temperature was and the breeze while we walked around.

Q4) While at Summerfest this year, was there a favorite song that you performed or perhaps some incredible memorable moment?

SondorBlue: After the show, one of our fans sent us a video of our closing song, OPINIONS. It was exciting to watch back and see the crowd stand up to celebrate with us as the show ended (it has a big triumphant ending) If you want to watch it back actually, we posted a Summerfest Day-to-Day video on our YouTube page.

Q5) Is there a stage you would like to perform at the next time you come back to Summerfest?

SondorBlue: We saw a few shows at both the The Miller Lite Oasis stage and the Harley Davidson Roadhouse stage. Truly any stage is a great opportunity to play on at Summerfest. We hope to be a part of the festival again next year.

Q6) Finally, is there anything you would like to say to your fans who voted for you at this year’s Emerging Artists Series at Summerfest?

SondorBlue: A massive virtual hug wouldn't even be enough. We've been a part of a few contests in the past, but never anything as cool and interactive as a Twitter contest. It was humbling to see our fans engage so quickly. Just that alone was wonderful to see, let alone to drive home with new music gear. Thanks so much.
