The Emerging Artists Series takes place every day of Summerfest. This series highlights up-and-coming local, national and international talent during daily performances that not only showcase great live music, but also engages the audience by having fans vote each day their favorite performance.
We’ve reached out to several of this year’s winners and asked them a few questions about themselves and what it’s like to perform at Summerfest.
This week we hear from Madison Ryan, an 18 year old pop artist out of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Madison has opened up for notable acts such as SayWeCanFly, Jeffry Gaines, Midnight Mob, Minshara, and has played various festivals and music conferences including Launch Music Festival, Dewey Beach PopFest, Dewey Beach Music Conference, Jersey Shore Festival, and Millenium Music Conference. This year she performed at Summerfest on July 1 at the Johnson Controls World Sound Stage. Thank you Madison for taking the time to answer some questions about your experience.
Q1) What was your favorite part of playing Summerfest?
Madison: It’s so hard to pick just one thing, the entire experience was just everything and more to me. It’s the biggest thing I’ve done so far and the energy of that stage was just outrageous!
Q2) Did you have any time to check out any of the artists at Summerfest while you were here?
Madison: I did! I got to see The Neighbourhood, Greta Van Fleet, Rick Springfield and more! I was so pumped to see some of my favorite artists and inspirations all in one place.
Q3) Milwaukee seems to have had an impact on you. When you think of Milwaukee, what’s the first thing that comes to mind?
Madison: I LOVE Milwaukee. The first word that pops into my head is “perfect”. It truly was such a great experience, there’s not one single thing I would change. Everyone was so sweet and supportive and I just had the time of my life.
Q4) What’s your inspiration for music come from?
Madison: I take inspiration from every single thing around me, whether it’s a person, a thing, a situation, everything. I feel like you can really find inspiration in everyone and everything as long as you’re looking for it.
Q5) Is there a stage you would like to perform at the next time you come back to Summerfest?
Madison: I loved the Johnson Controls World Stage but if I had to pick another one, the Briggs and Stratton Big Backyard stage looked amazing!
Q6) Finally, is there anything you would like to say to your fans who voted for you at this year’s Emerging Artists Series at Summerfest?
Madison: First and foremost, thank you. Truly, I cannot thank all of you enough. None of this would be even close to possible if it weren’t for your support. Thank you for believing in me and what I do, the support from everyone is legitimately what makes my world go round.
