As Social Media & Digital Content Coordinator for Summerfest, you might say music is a big part of my life. I'm an avid concert-goer, I love discovering new music, and I always have music on as the soundtrack to life.
Hence, I have a playlist for everything; for running and lifting, while I’m working, when traveling, and of course when I want to chill. But something recently surprised me when I took a moment to look back at which artists I'd seen live and listened to most in 2017. I noticed that there weren’t many female artists in my playlists. Sure I listened to plenty of female artists, but they weren't topping my charts – and I decided then to change that.
Many of us make New Year’s resolutions to lose weight, workout more, or commit to better ourselves some way. I decided to make a slightly different resolution: “To celebrate more female artists in 2018”. My first step in sticking to my resolution was to create a playlist I aptly titled "Lady Favs." I dug through my library of music and put my favorite female artists into the playlist. I also reached out to friends and family and asked them for recommendations and suggestions. Eventually I had a great playlist of female artists which I’d like to share with you today. While I capped this playlist at 100, this by no means is an exhaustive list. There's plenty of female artists to discover in 2018.
