MILWAUKEE (June 2, 2015) - Summerfest 2015 offers family focused entertainment and activities all day long for kids of all ages and families of all sizes.
Don’t miss the Summerfest Big Bang Fireworks Show live on the grounds on June 24 at 9:30 pm presented by Menards. Watch WISN-TV to see the show set to music, hosted by Toya Washington and Patrick Paolantonio at 10:30 pm. Produced by Bartolotta Fireworks.
The Northwestern Mutual Children's Theater and Playzone features not only jungle gyms and slides, but also a children's theater and interactive activities. Open daily from Noon - 8:00 pm for kids of all ages can enjoy family focused entertainment and activities.
Engage in FREE family activities over at the Kids Activity Tent, open daily Noon - 5:00 pm. Kids of all ages will enjoy the activities with:
- UB the Band! Hey kids, want to be a "real" rockstar? Now's your chance to shine! UB the Band brings all the gear, including colorful drum sets for ages 2 - adult, awesome character and special guitars complete with wireless microphones, stage monitors, real stage lighting and all the trimmings. There's absolutely no experience necessary!
- F.I.R.S.T. Robotics allows kids of all ages to take control of miniature remote controlled robots. The robots are built by teenage members of Charger Robotics Team 537 from Hamilton High School in Sussex, WI. Team members will be on site every day and there will also be a multi-school robotics competition at the Gruber Law Offices SportsZone on June 30 from Noon - 5:00 pm.
Find time to enjoy the many sights and sounds of the lakefront during Summerfest. Spend the day along the Lake Walk or take a ride on Funjet’s Summer-of-Fun Skyglider, which provides scenic views of Henry Maier Festival Park, Lake Michigan and all of the entertainment below. One-way and round-trip fares are available.
School of Rock, the national leader in performance-based music education, will host a “Battle of the Bands” competition for hundreds of their best students from across the world. Come watch these incredible young musicians duke it out as they perform on Saturday, June 27. The top bands will then battle in the finals on Sunday, June 28. Tuesday, June 30 is Sentry Foods and Dean’s Milk & Ice Cream Children’s Fest Day with TODAY’S TMJ4. Spend a fun-filled day with the family enjoying FREE Children’s Fest activities, like the Map of Fun. All patrons arriving between Noon - 3:00 pm will be admitted FREE, and select food vendors will offer discounts on food and beverage items. Delicious samples will be available courtesy of Sentry and Dean’s Milk and Ice Cream with a donation to the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
Enjoy a welcome to Summerfest with the Annual Mascot Welcome at the Mid Gate! The Dragonfly Stiltwalker will welcome everyone along with the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club’s Famous Racing Sausages™, Milwaukee Bucks Bango and many more!
Take some time to jump aboard Summerfest’s Wheel in the Sky. Back for its second year,“the wheel in the sky keeps on turnin’” on the north end of the grounds. Patrons can ride this giant ferris wheel and enjoy spectacular views of Summerfest, downtown Milwaukee and Lake Michigan. Rides will run from Noon – 11:30 pm daily for $5 a person!
Every day of the Fest, from Noon – 7:00 pm, the Kohl’s Captivation Station will offer educational and musical experiences for children and families. Create hands on projects, see live theater and be amazed by family friendly performers. Come see Comedysportz, Figureheads, Mad Science and more. Additionally, The Zoological Society of Milwaukee, Milwaukee Art Museum, Discovery World, Penfield Children’s Center and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin will be on-hand to provide activities too – just for kids!
Your day at Summerfest will not be complete without stopping by the “Splash Pad.” This year, McDonald’s presents the Elizabeth “Bo” Black Family Fountain with Trending Radio 93.3, allowing kids of all ages to splash and play the day away while keeping cool. The Gruber Law Offices SportsZone with Newsradio 620 WTMJ is the ultimate destination for sports fans! This area offers interactive daily programming including sports demonstrations and clinics from the Milwaukee Bucks, the Milwaukee Admirals and much more!
Celebrate Summerfest on the water in Paddleboats presented by Badger Meter! This family friendly activity is provided by Lakeshore Paddle Sports that gives patrons the opportunity to relax and take in views of the festival and downtown Milwaukee. From Noon – 7:00 pm each day, paddle around part of the lagoon for 30 minutes in boats that hold up to four (4) people. Located at the boat dock on the north end of the grounds, this is an experience that can’t be missed!
Les Paul’s Big Sound Experience will be featured on Friday, July 3 – Sunday, July 5. The 53' interactive, state-of-the-art mobile touring exhibit gives guests the opportunity to experience 1,000 square feet of music exploration, sound and technology innovations and a hands-on interactive entertainment. Visitors can mix and share music as they discover Les Paul, the music icon. The exhibit features touch screen integrated video presentations, 3D interactive guitar animations and an account of Les Paul’s life, starting with his childhood "living room laboratory." Located on the south end of the grounds.
Summerfest 2015 will take place June 24 - 28 and June 30 – July 5 from Noon until Midnight and will be closed Monday, June 29.
