Alabama-based sextet St. Paul & The Broken Bones will thrill you with their mix of soul, gospel and blues. After forming in 2012, they recorded two EPs before releasing their first full-length album, Half The City, in 2014. The dynamic group recently opened up for The Rolling Stones on two dates of their Zip Code tour last summer.

The Sound:

St. Paul & The Broken Bones have created something special by bringing together the elements of retro-soul, gospel power and down-home southern blues. Frontman Paul Janeway has an unmistakable and timeless voice that wails and howls in all the right places. "Call Me" takes on traditional soul and adds an irrestistable modern take while "Like A Mighty River" focuses on a slick sound accentuated by energizing horn riffs. This is music that makes you move. It's a foot tap that quickly turns into a full body sway.

Why You Should Go:

Witnessing them live, you can tell that St. Paul & The Broken Bones are a band that put their blood, sweat and tears (not literally, but almost) into each performance. Each song is a high-energy experience that reflects the vocal power and stage presence of Paul Janeway while highlighting the exceptional band behind the man. See them for yourself at Summerfest on Friday, July 8!
