We're bringing you a band from our not-so-distant neighbors in Minnesota this week on Fest Finds. Hippo Campus is an energetic indie rock band that presents a dance pop sensibility with their catchy songs. The quartet has opened for artists such as My Morning Jacket, Walk The Moon and Modest Mouse. South, their sophomore EP, was released in October 2015.

The Sound:

Hippo Campus has an irresistable upbeat sound that shines through on every track. Both EPs, Beautiful Creatures and South, provide a collection of sounds that beg to be played on a sunny summer day whether you're hanging out in a backyard with friends or simply driving around with the windows rolled down. A song like "Suicide Saturday" has a toe tapping beat punctuated with big vocals while "South" takes on a dreamy and simplistic vibe that leaves you smiling.

Why You Should Go:

It's clear that Hippo Campus is a band that wants you to dance, clap along and do whatever you need to have a great time. With a combination of colorful vocals and dynamic beats, these Minnesota boys will make you feel like you're awash in sunlight. Check them out at Summerfest on Saturday, July 2!

If you like The Mowgli's, Bombay Bicycle Club, Vampire Weekend or Walk The Moon, check out Hippo Campus.
