The Magnettes

The Magnettes

The Magnettes were formed in Pajala, a small town with only 2000 habitants above the Arctic Circle in Sweden, close to the Finnish border. This region has a minority language called Meänkieli, a language that was forbidden in Sweden until 1957 and today is spoken by only around 50,000 people. The Magnettes celebrate their roots and have adapted Meänkieli and their old folk music into a modern sound often called 21st Century glitter punk or electro pop. The band is Rebecka, Sanna, and Tomas, and they have performed in over 10 different countries. The Magnettes have released 4 singles and will release their fifth in April called “Young and Wild”. They are releasing their debut album “Ugly Youth”, on June 30th.
